The development of biodegradable plastics represents a step towards a more sustainable future. However, they should not be seen as a panacea for plastic pollution. A multi-pronged approach that combines material innovation, improved waste management infrastructure, and responsible consumer behavior is necessary to address this complex environmental challenge.
